Aims
You will be able to enhance your understanding of:
the concept of giftedness
the most commonly observed cognitive and affective behaviours associated with giftedness
the importance of using inclusive identification methods to identify gifted students
ways to develop appropriate learning experiences for gifted students
ways to enhance gifted students' critical, creative and caring thinking skills
ways to develop higher order thinking skills in all students
Time Commitment
Contact time-consists of 9 modules, each with three hours' duration= 27hrs
Non-contact - addition 13 to 15 hrs to carry out the required between module activities and readings
Your Role:
You are expected to meet the following criteria in order to be awarded a certificate:
attend all workshops( one jail free card)
actively discuss and share ideas
contribute to a positive learning environment for all participants
complete the Between Module Reading and the Between Module Acitivites
submit a copy of work completed including:
reflecions on module readings
data on an identified gifted student
a curriculum unit that integrates learnings from Modules 4-8
a specific differentiation option for an identified gifted student
Accreditation
The course provides teachers with an opportunity to engage in rigorous and sustained professional develpment develpment. Consequently, a number of tertiary institutions around the world, and in Australia, will grant credit towards further post-graduate studies.
